About the model
- Comfort Index is a 0-100 score that estimates how comfortable it will feel outside. Higher scores generally mean better conditions and more usable outdoor time.
- The score factors in heat, cold, humidity, wind, cloud cover, rain, thunder risk, air quality, and how consistent conditions stay throughout the day.
- This archive refreshes about every 6 hours: 2:20 AM, 8:20 AM, 2:20 PM, and 8:20 PM ET.

Comfort Categories
- Exceptional88-100Rare standout comfort with very few weather tradeoffs.
- Ideal75-87Great outdoor weather for most people and most plans.
- Pleasant60-74Generally usable, with some heat, chill, humidity, wind, rain, or air-quality tradeoff.
- Fair45-59Noticeable comfort issues. Timing of outdoor activities, shade, hydration, or cleaner air may matter.
- Poor30-44Uncomfortable or disruptive weather is likely. Limit time outdoors, especially during the worst conditions.
- Terrible0-29Harsh conditions. Avoid outdoor plans when possible and use extra caution if you must be out.
